About the Project
The ACTIVATE project (Using green and digital transition to increase artisans and small business competitive advantage) is a transnational European initiative created to equip independent artisans, craftspeople, artists, and micro-entrepreneurs with the essential green and digital skills they need to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving market.
As society shifts toward sustainability and automated digital workflows, many traditional and independent professionals risk being left behind. ACTIVATE bridges this gap by creating accessible, practical, and jargon-free training frameworks that respect the authentic, unique nature of the craft sector while unlocking modern competitive advantages.
Our Motivation
Consumers across Europe are demanding high-quality, authentic, and locally-crafted items, but they also care deeply about how these products are made, their environmental impact, and whether the supply chain is fair.
At the same time, the European Green Deal and digital transformation strategies call for businesses of all sizes to modernize.
For self-employed artisans and blue-collar workers, pausing daily production to attend lengthy, complex theoretical courses is simply not an option.
ACTIVATE was born from a clear need: to provide micro-learning experiences and flexible frameworks that easily blend into the demanding daily schedule of a practicing craftsperson.
Project Objectives
Objective 01
Co-Design a Roadmap: Build a step-by-step analytical framework to guide artisans through an audit of their daily operations, evaluating fields like billing, automated accounting, marketing, and local network efficiency.
Objective 02
Co-Create a Digital Toolkit: Develop practical resources, including bite-sized micro-learning units, straight-to-the-point video tutorials, and listen-while-you-work audio tracks tailored for smartphones.
Objective 03
Cross-Border Validation and Testing: Validate these prototypes directly with target users and adult educators in real-world environments to guarantee absolute clarity and cross-border transferability.
Objective 04
Disseminate and Build Community: Share the finalized results openly with local chambers of commerce, VET (Vocational Education and Training) institutions, and professional mentors to create long-term support networks across the EU.
